Archival Assistants for Photographic Negatives Digitization Project
Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations - Student Position 

In 2001, the renowned Canadian photographer Mr. George Hunter founded the Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation (CHPF). CHPF is a Not for Profit located in one of Toronto's largest suburbs of Mississauga. Transportation to the Foundation offices is easily accessible by bus or train. The office is walking distance from Square One Shopping Centre, the Living Arts Centre as well as major stores and restaurants (www.chpf.com).

CHPF is now in the beginning stages of digitizing the Hunter collection of over 100,000 photographic negatives and we require the assistance of two - three summer students for a sixteen-week term to aid with this digitization. Students must be currently studying in a related educational program such as Archiving, Archives and Record Management or Photographic Preservation and Information Management. To apply for the summer positions at CHPF, students also must:

*Be registered as a full-time student in the semester preceding May 2019
*Intend to return to full-time studies in the semester immediately following the end of the work term (Sept 2019)
*Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada
*Be legally entitled to work in Canada
*Be between the ages of 15 - 30 years of age at the start of employment

Duties will include: utilizing recognized archival standards and methodologies to digitize the Hunter collection, scan photographic images, create digital files, assist with metadata and historical context for images, and rehouse negatives according to archiving best practices.

Our ideal candidates can work well in a small office environment and will be excited to assist this Not for Profit Foundation in the early stages of its mandate. We need team players. The position is supervised by the CHPF Head Archivist and will be assisted by the Foundation Administrator and Chairman of the Board.  Eligible candidates are requested to submit a resume and covering letter to:

The sixteen week term begins May 6th, 2019 – August 28rd, 2019 and is temporary Full Time (37.5 hours a week)
